GNOMEBREW

Looper by Full Circle Brew Co.

I was recommended this beer by a druid of the Welsh hills, leading me to speed in my mighty 1.5 litre Mini Cooper to the shop with 11 minutes until it closed in search for a can. And, I'm proud to say, I got it.

So here it is: Looper - produced by Full Circle Brew Co.

I've enjoyed a few of these modern, fruity beers in the last few months so felt it would be great to expand my palate. The hazy styles have yet to fail me though, I do admit, that speaks more to my inexperience than it does the style.

As with anything containing Citra, Mosaic and (new to me) Cashmere hops, you really get a fruit-forward aroma and taste. The citrus notes come forward to me most, but I think I'm picking up something like the zest and bitterness of grapefruit. It's not just purely sweet orange flavours, it's got a little bit of bite and complexity. I've definitely had others of this style that seemed more sweet and fruity, perhaps easier to chug because of it, but this one asks you to take it on a second date before it lets you finish.

I think, and I could be mad to say it, I pick up something like the aftertaste of melon? Would that make me crazy? Possibly.

Absolutely, this is one I would buy again - it's not the sort of thing I would want to drink every day, but only the basic and boring serve such purposes. This is a lovely beer that I would be positively giddy for in anticipation next time I have a can on hand.
